5-Star Run Routes
Thanks to a generous grant from the Naturally L&A Activation Fund, this year we have added five local, curated itineraries in L&A County to enhance the training experience. Look for our signs on the Run Route, scan the QR code OR hop on the website, and check off the one you have completed. Every completed route earns you a ballot for a prize basket of local goodies, valued at $500! Complete all 5 and receive 10 bonus ballots PLUS special mention at the Awards Ceremony! Yay for beautiful L&A County!
Route #1: Nestled in Newburgh
Start your adventure at Abrams Bakery (422 Main Street, Newburgh). We are partial to the donuts! Make your way up to the Cat Trail Entrance off Main Street and enjoy the 5km out-and-back. If you're completing this route on a Saturday, you may be in luck! The Hollow Square Market (425 Main Street) is a treat! Check here for dates!
Route #2: Scenic Bath
We suggest you begin with a caffeinated beverage at Lodge Coffee House (376 Main Street in Bath). Once fuelled, complete the 4.64km route. If running on a Sunday, check out the Market at Centennial Park beginning May 8th. Grab lunch at Beachside BBQ (352 Main Street) and finish off your time in Bath with an ice cream from Castaways (360 Main Street).
Route #3: Tamworth and the Salmon River
Start your journey by popping into the Black Cat Cafe (5 Ottawa Street). Enjoy a leisurely 4.73km route through town and near the gently-flowing Salmon River. It's a toss up for after-exercise activities, but the pizza is great at A-1 Corner Restaurant and the adorable bookshop red brick coach house located at the foot of Peel Street and Bridge Street East should not be missed!
Route #4: The Amherst Islander
Hop on board the ferry and make your way across Lake Ontario to the Island. You're running first today! Enjoy the lakeside views as you complete a 5km out-and-back along Front Road. Once finished, grab a table at the popular Back Kitchen (5660 Front Road, Stella) (opens May 13th for the season) and enjoy a wicked good burger! Still yearning for Island Time? We recommend Topsy Farms (14775 Front Road) or a chill afternoon at Sand Beach (Concession Road 3). Have fun!
Route #5: Napanee Heritage 'OG'
We're a little partial to this route! It's hard to choose where to send you on this one... Downtown Napanee is awesome! Get that run over with first... the 5km route is quick and peppered with Napanee's coolest historical buildings. We definitely suggest the following (for morning eats): Coffee Cravings (86 John Street), Ellena's (16 Dundas East), Butter My Buns (114 John Street), Blue Door Bakery (310 Bridge West) and these for shopping: Black Barn Co (17 Market Square), Starlet (30 Dundas East), La Senda Eco Store (46 Dundas East), Divine Boutique (9 Dundas West), Good Home Company (8 Bridge East) and Napanee Blooms (20 Dundas East).
